Three Legged Angel - Angels Journey

Do you all remember the story I posted last week of the three legged horse that was killed when a Virginia Transport company failed to put her in the front and instead put her in the back of the trailer only to forget to secure the back door? She fell out of the back door of the transport onto the highway. When Highway patrol found this girl, they automatically thought her leg was torn off in the accident so they killed her on the spot (not knowing she was 3 legged to begin with). I'm not sure if the Transport Company TDS ever turned around or not. I guess you would have to ask them. Angel was on her way to have surgery by a Docter in Sheridan Wyoming some 1500 miles from home. According to the video the Transport has yet to contact the owner of this horse and will not return calls.

This video was sent to me today by Angle's mom. Thanks Mrs. Preston for sharing Angel's Journey with all of us at HorseVA. The transport listed in this article is TDS Transport out of Gladstone, VA.

How Faux-Horse Wins on The Runway

I thought all my equestrian friends would enjoy this news from the fashion world. This write up and photo was on the Wall Street Journal Blog this morning. Enjoy!

WELLINGTON, New Zealand — A British designer’s leather horse head and dress took the top prize at a New Zealand “wearable art” show last week, ahead of the country’s more mainstream fashion week.

Mary Wing To’s piece “Hylonome,” which won the Supreme Award at Brancott Estate’s World of WearableArt, is an attempt at reviving traditional saddle-making techniques. The dress, made mainly from leather, was adorned with a horse-hair tail and embossed with horses, with each of the pieces of fabric sewn together by hand. The model, who could only see through the nose of the “horse’s” head, carried a spear.

“It took months and months to make it — I lost track of time,” said Ms. Wing To, 28 years old. She is based in London, where she works as a fashion designer and saddle maker. The horse head took more than 15 hours of nonstop manipulation to get the leather shaped in a realistic way.

The Wellington show, known as WOW, combines design, music and other performing arts and drew 300 entrants this year. Roughly a third, including this year’s winner, hailed from overseas, and some 500,000 spectators are expected to watch the show over it's 12 night run.
