The Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue Needs Our Help!
I know times are tough but we are so fortunate to have an organization like the Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue in our area. I heard from Patricia Muncy the other day and asked her how things were going over at the RVHR. She answered my question but it wasn't the answer I expected. Here is what she said: "right now things are really bad. The number of unwanted horses is soaring and there is very little money coming in." So Chris and I decided right then and there to cut down on eatting out and maybe even cut back on our vistits to Star Bucks. What about you? Can you give up your Veniti Mocha for a few days and help RVHR out? If you can spare a small donation to the RVHR, so they can afford to take care of the 25 horses in need of food and vet care, they might not have to make some tough decisions (decisions, we as horse owners dread to even think about). The RVHR is a non-profit group and it costs between $ 150 and $ 200 dollars per horse per month ($ 5000+). If you would like to help out, you can become a monthly sponsor (that is what Chris and I decided to do) or just send in what ever you can spare.
All donations are appreciated.
You can mail your donations to: RVHR, P.O. Box 13, Hardy, VA 24101
If you would like to become a monthly sponsor (you can even pick the horse you want to sponsor) go to the link below:

Welcome to our Photo of the Week! A big thanks goes out to all those folks that took time to send in their photos. It was very hard to choose so I will rotate the photos out each week. Horse Friends - Dogtoberfest is Just Around The Corner!
Even though Horseva is a site to keep local equestrians in the loop with upcoming events, I wanted to promote Dogtoberfest coming up on October 2, 2010. Anyone that has horses has dogs so this would be fun day for your furry four-legged dog friends. Here are some photos from last year's event:
The 2010 Dogtoberfest takes place Oct 2 from 10AM-4PM at the Saint Francis Training Center (8232 Enon Drive, Roanoke VA). All dogs must be on leashes and have proof of rabies vaccination.
